  Corporate News Headline
Aban Offshore said it will raise Rs. 44.08 bn by shares sale this fiscal. The company board has approved to raise USD 400 mn by issuing foreign currency convertible bonds, global depository receipts and American depository receipts from international markets. (BS)
Marico Ltd said unit Kaya Ltd acquired the aesthetics business of Singapore based Derma Rx Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. The firm which did not disclose financial details of the transaction said Derma generates a turnover of Rs. 500 mn annually. (BS)
GMR Infrastructure will announce a USD 100 mn private equity investment in its energy unit in a week, a senior official said, without elaborating. (BS)
  Economic and Political Headline
Exporters of engineering products and handicrafts may get more fiscal sops to help them tide over the demand crunch, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said. He said the Directorate General of Foreign Trade would complete a performance review of different sectors in July. Labour-oriented export sectors like handicraft, jute, engineering goods and electronics registered negative growth in March. (BS)
Confidence among US consumers increased in May to the highest level since March 2008 as Americans became more upbeat about job prospects. The Conference Board's confidence index rose to 63.3 from a revised 57.7 in April, figures from the New York-based private research group showed. (Bloomberg)
European industrial orders increased the most in almost three years in March, led by surging demand for capital goods. Orders in the 16-nation euro area jumped 5.2% from February, when they rose 1.9%, the European Union's statistics office said. From a year earlier, March industrial orders soared 20%, the most in almost 10 years. (Bloomberg)
